Reporting and takedowns
What this site is
lexicographer.space shows public web tiles: small pages that people publish to their own atproto accounts (the network behind Bluesky). This site doesn't host the tiles. Each tile's files come straight from its creator's own account server, and this site only shows them. It doesn't store tiles, keep accounts, or set cookies.
What this site serves itself
The page around each tile (its name, description and creator, as the creator wrote them), and a copy of the tile's preview picture used for link cards.
When a tile is deleted
If a creator deletes a tile from their account, it disappears from this site within about a minute, and its preview picture within about five minutes.
Reporting a tile
Use "Report" in the bar above any tile, or email report@lexicographer.space with the tile's address (the link to its page, or its at:// address) and what the problem is.
What happens next
Reports go to the one person who runs this site in their spare time. I read every report and aim to reply within a week. Reports about someone's safety or about illegal content are looked at first, usually within two days.
I hide a tile when it:
- clearly breaks the law,
- harasses, threatens or exposes someone (for example by sharing their private information),
- impersonates someone,
- tries to trick visitors (for example a fake sign-in page), or
- sexualises minors in any way.
I don't hide tiles for being unpopular, opinionated, or not to someone's taste.
Child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.
I'll reply to let you know whether the tile was hidden. I may or may not contact the tile's creator, but a hidden tile's page says it isn't shown here and how to ask about it.]
What hiding does
A hidden tile, or every tile from a hidden account, is no longer shown here: its page says it isn't shown, and its preview picture stops working. Hiding doesn't remove the tile from its creator's account or from other sites that show tiles. To have it removed everywhere, contact the creator or their account's host.
Bluesky moderation
Accounts that Bluesky's moderation has taken down or hidden aren't shown here either.
What this site can't reach
When someone posts a link to a tile on Bluesky, Bluesky keeps its own copy of the link card's picture inside that post. Hiding or deleting the tile here doesn't remove that copy: report the post to Bluesky.
Copyright claims
If you believe a tile shown here infringes your copyright, you can send a notice to this site's designated agent:
report@lexicographer.spaceYour notice should include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- the tile, by its page link or at:// address, and what in it infringes;
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
When a complete notice arrives, I hide the tile here and let the creator know where I can.
Hiding only affects this site. The tile itself lives in its creator's account. To have it removed there, contact the creator or their account's host; Bluesky, for example, has its own copyright process.
Counter-notices
If your tile was hidden and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Include:
- your signature;
- the tile that was hidden;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was hidden by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and phone number;
- your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you're outside the US, any judicial district in which this site may be found), and that you'll accept service from the person who sent the notice.
I pass the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell me within 10 business days that they've filed a court action, the tile is shown again 10 to 14 business days after the counter-notice arrived.
Accounts whose tiles are repeatedly the subject of valid notices will be hidden entirely.
If your tile was hidden
If your tile isn't shown here and you think that's a mistake, email report@lexicographer.space with the tile's address (its page link or at:// address) and why you think it should be shown. I'll look at it again and let you know what I decided, aiming to reply within two weeks.
If your tile was hidden after a copyright notice, use a counter-notice instead (see "Copyright claims" above): it has its own steps and time limits.
If none of your tiles are shown because Bluesky's moderation has taken down or hidden your account, this site follows Bluesky's decision. Appeal to Bluesky through its own process. If Bluesky lifts it, your tiles show here again within about ten minutes, with nothing else to do.
